The Super-Effective 9-Minute Relaxation Practice

I’m excited to share a relaxation technique I’ve recently learned and started practicing daily. The difference it has made in my mood, stress levels, and sense of relaxation is pretty amazing! Best of all, it takes less than 10 minutes and has immediate effects.

This technique comes from The Love Code by Dr. Alexander Loyd (link). Dr. Loyd explains that since we are energetic beings, energy is always being released from our bodies, with our hands being a powerful center of that energy. Our cells rely on energy to function, and by placing our hands on certain areas of the body, we can “feed” those cells more usable energy so they can do what they naturally know how to do—keep us healthy.

If I had to describe how I feel after 9 minutes of this technique, I’d call it “energized relaxation.” It’s not the heavy calm that makes you want to sleep, nor the jittery buzz from caffeine. It’s more like: “Ah, okay—I’m ready for the next part of my day, and I’m in a better mood. Let’s go!”

One of my most stressful times of the day is around 4 pm, right before I start dinner, tidy up, and help my three girls with their schoolwork. I’ve been using this technique as a bridge into the second half of my day, and it’s made such a difference—I enter dinner prep and family time feeling lighter, calmer, and more present.

Another side benefit I’ve noticed is that my ideas are flowing more easily. I’ve had fresh insights and creative thoughts I’ve never had before—it’s pretty cool!

Here’s how simple the technique is (just 9 minutes total):

Heart Position (3 minutes):

Place one hand over your heart and the other hand on top. Rub in a clockwise circular motion for 15 seconds, then switch to counterclockwise for 15 seconds. Keep alternating for 3 minutes. Just breathe, relax, and enjoy.

Forehead Position (3 minutes):

Place one hand across your forehead, just below your eyebrows, with the other hand on top. Do the same circular motions—15 seconds clockwise, then 15 seconds counterclockwise—for 3 minutes.

Crown Position (3 minutes):

Place your hand on the crown of your head with the other hand on top, repeating the same alternating circular motions for 3 minutes.

That’s it! The first time I did this, I actually broke into a sweat—and the sense of stress relief afterward was incredible.

This has become part of my daily rhythm because it helps me show up as a better mother, wife, and simply a calmer version of myself. Plus, anything free, easy, and effective for stress relief is a win in my book.

Give it a try and see for yourself the power of this simple practice.

With love,

Diana
